School Excursions
The unique offerings within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park Sanctuary provide a fantastic natural teaching base for a diversity of primary and secondary excursions.

Groups of over 10 passengers
To enquire about group discount options, special timings, lunch selections, printed educational material and informative wildlife talks with our specialists, please email our team and we will contact you to discuss your requirements to tailor a day that is suitable for you.
If your group is 10 passengers or less, you can choose to book online from our standard cruise times.
Special requests? We are more than happy to assist you where possible.

Please note - An email is best, our reservations staff may be busy at our check-in desk when answering phones - an email will allow our friendly team to arrange a suitable time to call and discuss your needs.

Group Bookings

  • Discount options are available for groups of 10 or more.

  • Groups must be paid 7 days in advance to secure passenger seats on our vessels.

  • Cancellations are refunded if 7 days or more notice is provided.

  • Cancellations due to operational issues, or unsafe weather conditions, will receive a full credit to reschedule, or a full refund.

Booking Policy & Procedure

  • All booking enquiries must be secured with full payment by Perth Wildlife Encounters with minimum 7 days notice of the desired tour date.

  • Booking enquiries can be made via the online enquiry form, or by emailing our team direct

  • Requested dates cannot be secured until the required payment deposit, or full payment (if booking within 7 days), is received. We are unable to hold booking requests without the required payment.

  • If you have requested to add a Pengos group lunch option for an additional fee onto your booking, please ensure your lunch selections are received by our team at least 3 days prior to your arrival.

  • Final passenger numbers must be received 7 days prior to travel. No refunds are provided for missing passengers from your group.

  • Extra passengers - are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee seats for extra passengers on the day of your tour.
    However, if we are able to assist and accommodate additional guests, they must be paid in full prior to travel, either by cash or with credit card. An invoice can be issued for these last minute bookings.

Booking Timeline

  • More than 7 days out - To avoid disappointment, please try to give our friendly team more than one week’s notice when booking groups of 10 or more. A deposit, or full payment, will be required to secure your requested date will be required.

  • 7 days out – Please finalise your numbers and ensure full payment is made. Otherwise your booking may be cancelled

  • 3 days out- Pengos group lunch order must be finalised and received by the team in preparation for your visit

Payment Methods
For a smooth booking process, please follow the steps below for payment.
Confirmation and tax invoice will be emailed - options for direct bank deposit or credit card payments are available.
Direct Deposit - please email a remittance reference and your booking reference number to: accounts@dolphins.com.au
Credit Card - please use the payment link provided on your confirmation. You will receive an automatic receipt of payment.

Additional or Last Minute Guests
We accept card or cash only for last minute bookings - tax invoice will be emailed.

Please determine the suitable supervisory ratios of adults to students for the activities below.
To assist with meeting your supervision plan we offer free entry for adult supervisors according to the following ratios:
1 adult supervisor travels free for every 10 students booked.
Additional adults are welcome and if travelling with your group, are charged at student rates.

Pengos Café can also provide School Lunch Options for your visit. Please check with our team for seasonal menu options.

School Excursion Options

Ferry Transfers - please check if penguin island is accessible

The iconic Penguin Island is a fabulous inclusion to your tour. Tides will determine access, please check on suitable dates for travel and safe access to the jetty landing. If you are thinking of includig a Guided Wildlife Walk, we can discuss providig this section on the mainland if Penguin Island is not accessible. If your group is provided access to the island, there may be time to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, exploring the nature trails or just relax and enjoy the beautiful nature reserve. Packed lunches can be taken to the island. Your group may choose to bring your own, or we can arrange picnic style packs from Pengos Cafe.

Guided Wildlife Walk

Choose to include a 30 minute curated Guided Wildlife Walk providing exclusive insight into the local Little Penguin population, information on our resident and rare Australlian Sea Lions and Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins, the spectacular landscapes, information on populations of migratory sea birds and the entertaining local history of the island. Our walks will educate your group on the marine ecology and diversity of the area and conservation efforts. Where possible we will engage a local Marine Ranger for our guided talks, they are alway happy to share their extensive knowledge of the area.

The Dolphin, Sea Lion and Penguin Island Cruise

Include a 60-minute boat cruise that takes place in the ruggedly spectacular coastlines of Shoalwater, taking in Penguin, Seal & Bird Islands and take advantage of the best wildlife spotting opportunities of the day. Wild dolphins, rare Australian sea lions, pelican rookeries and nesting birds of prey are regularly sighted and our friendly crew will get you right amongst the action! Our crew will ensure that the cruise is entertaining, educational and exciting.
