In order to minimise all risks, Perth Wildlife Encounters are closely monitoring all updates on the global effects of the Corona Virus and as such are following the advice and precautions suggested by health and government authorities including WHO and Tourism Australia.
The current situation on COVID-19 is changing rapidly and Perth Wildlife Encounters are dedicated to the health and safety of all visitors, our crew and community. We have taken extra precautions to create a safe, clean and enjoyable environment:

Is Perth Wildlife Encounters Open?
Yes, we are open for business as usual (albeit far from usual circumstances). Perth Wildlife Encounters are adhering to all government and WHO regulations in regards to COVID-19. Ensuring we have the latest information from the most qualified sources, we aim to keep you safe and our cruises running, while implementing strict hygiene standards for the safety of all visitors and crew. During this time of uncertainty, we will do everything we can to support our community and our visitors to get out into nature and enjoy an adventure in their own backyard. Should current conditions or regulations shift, we will update all our visitors as required.
Is it safe to go on the Ferry & Wildlife Cruises?
The highest levels of cleaning practices on every vessel are being maintained. On check in, all surfaces and touchpoints are cleaned thoroughly and Eftpos payments are encouraged over cash handling. Personal space is respected on our cruises and all our crew members use hand sanitizer, following the strictest hygiene practices. None of our boats have capacity of over 70 people, as per the government’s gatherings restrictions and there is plenty of fresh air and space on our vessels.
Is it safe to go to Penguin Island?
Penguin Island has 12.5 ha of beaches, vitamin D, fresh ocean air and space to enjoy nature in a safe and clean environment. There is plenty of room to enjoy a stretch of beach all to yourself and soak up the beautiful surrounds. Penguin Island feedings at The Discovery Centre are staggered to help keep a safe distance between visitors. The Discovery Centre is also thoroughly cleaned and maintained between visitors, ensuring highest hygiene practices. Getting out in nature is a great immune boost and being an island, Penguin Island offers a fun and safe opportunity to enjoy nature.
Is it safe to go on the Swim With Wild Dolphins Cruise?
Our Swim With Wild Dolphins takes you out in our local sheltered waters of Rockingham. Salt water, ocean air and vitamin D all play a positive role in immune health. The highest levels of cleaning practices on our Swim With Dolphins vessel are being maintained. All equipment is thoroughly disinfected at every use. All crew use hand sanitizer and follow strict hygiene procedures. COVID-19 is NOT transmittable from or to our local wildlife. Surfaces and areas are cleaned regularly throughout our tours. Our Swim With Wild Dolphins Cruise takes the least number of guests of all our cruises with a maximum of only 30 on board. There is plenty of space on board to enjoy fresh ocean air and respect personal space.
What safety measures are in place?
We continue to monitor recommendations from the WHO, CDC, and government so we remain up-to-date on the latest information and safety protocols and ensure we follow all regulations for the safety of our visitors and community.
• All crew wash hands regularly and use hand sanitizer throughout the day prior to all cruises departing
• All boats are thoroughly cleaned, washed and upkept to the highest hygiene standards
• Common contact surfaces are sanitized throughout the day on all vessels, in our reservations office and on Penguin Island; tables, door handles, benches etc.
• We ensure to respect personal space of our visitors and encourage open areas for fresh ocean air
• There are no crowds
• Good hygiene practices are displayed and encouraged for all visitors
We ask if you have recently been overseas, show any signs or symptoms of coronavirus, or have been in close contact with a confirmed case, you follow government’s regulations and do not attend tours at this time.
Should I go on a Wild Encounter at this time?
We ensure all our operations are safe and in line with the governments most up to date reugulations and advice. A Wild Encounter can give you a dose of adventure and nature in a safe and healthy way. As mentioned, we have plenty of open space and getting out in nature is a great boost for your immune system. Supporting local business also helps our local economy. You don’t have to give up on your holiday, simply find an adventure to enjoy in your own backyard. We promise you’ll be amazed at the Wild Encounters on your doorstep.
